Welcome
MMI has been doing short-term missions in Mexico since the late 1960’s.  The numbers continue to grow as more and more come to serve.

In 1999, Drs. César Puesan and Pédro Gomez began as co-directors of MMI in Mexico.  Pédro and César have made it possible for MMI to work directly with the University of Montemorelos.

Geography
Location: North America, bordering the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, between Belize and the US and bordering the North Pacific Ocean, between Guatemala and the US.

Area: slightly less than three times the size of Texas.

Terrain: high, rugged mountains; low coastal plains; high plateaus; desert; jungle and tropical areas.

History
The site of advanced Amerindian civilizations (like Mayan and Aztec), Mexico came under Spanish rule for three centuries before achieving independence early in the 19th century.

Weather
Varies from tropical to desert.

Goverment
Federal republic with its capital city being Mexico City.

Economy
Currency: Mexican peso (Mex$)
Industries: food and beverages, tobacco, chemicals, iron and steel, petroleum, mining, textiles, clothing, motor vehicles, consumer durables, tourism.
Agriculture: corn, wheat, soybeans, rice, beans, cotton, coffee, fruit, tomatoes; beef, poultry, dairy products; wood products.

Project Sites
Montemorelos projects will be conducted at the University Hospital and throughout the community.

Local Government Hospitals and Clinics will be utilized in other parts of Mexico especially in the Northeast regions of Mexico.

Montemorelos projects have hotel style accommodations.  Other sites have dormitory style accommodations (unless otherwise noted).

Electricity is 110 volts – same as in the USA.

People
