Our Mission Statement
Our long standing mission statement reads as follows: “MMI is an opportunity to serve Jesus Christ by providing spiritual and physical health care in this world of need.” And we wanted to offer to you below a little added detail behind our mission statement.
MMI is…
Since 1968, we’ve worked diligently to meet the need for medical care among the world’s poor with lasting solutions through excellence in medicine, patient care, and integrated health education.
We fulfill these ministry efforts by mobilizing volunteers into nearly forty countries on medical mission projects and, over time, establishing effective permanent medical centers in many of those areas.
…an opportunity
Each year, more than 1,500 people – doctors, dentists, nurses, surgeons, other health care professionals, and people with no medical training at all – donate their time to serve on MMI projects.
There are key roles for families and non-medical people to play – just as there are for medical people. And more than 70% of MMI volunteers return to serve on other projects. (We hope you’ll be among those!)
…to serve Jesus Christ
Volunteers come from a variety of traditions and we work with numerous local churches. Together, we blend our diversities as we unify to provide a significant healing ministry that is Good News to the poor.
…by providing spiritual and physical health care
We minister to patients as we meet their medical needs.
Integrated health is the key as we meet not only medical, dental, and surgical health needs – but as we also counsel with patients, coach them through disease prevention, promote health maintenance, and care powerfully for the spiritual needs of their souls.
…in this world of need.
With intentionality, we seek to minister in the name of Jesus and serve the least and the last on the economic scale.
The healthcare we offer is typically all that is available to them – and we work each year in dozens of countries where the need is great. . . and where God’s care is also great – and equal to the challenge.
