We pray that you will feel God’s blessings and direction as you serve Him in Thailand.
MMI’s work in Thailand began in 1997. Our strategy has been to work by direct invitation in partnership with existing Christian mission organizations. Numerous church planting opportunities have also arisen as we have embedded many local Christian volunteers in our efforts in Thailand.
Project Sites
MMI Teams serve in a mobile clinic in the villages of Issan and Wangnamyen. Sometimes there are also opportunities to work at the local mission hospital – Bangkla Baptist Hospital.
Housing
Accommodations are in the homes of missionaries or national pastors. Mosquito netting and air mattresses are provided. You may want to bring an additional thin air mattress for added comfort. Food is mainly Thai; bottled water will be provided.
Communication
Thai people put great emphasis on politeness and good manners. Although they are generally understanding of Westerner’s mistakes through ignorance, they appreciate all attempts to be polite the Thai way.
More About Thailand
A unified Thai kingdom was established in the mid-14th century; it was known as Siam until 1939. Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy. In alliance with Japan during World War II, Thailand became a US ally following the conflict.
Thailand is in southeastern Asia, bordering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, southeast of Myanmar, and is slightly more than twice the size of Wyoming. The government is a constitutional monarchy with its capital city being Bangkok.
